What is the reason behind the development of this educational website?

- Educational assessment in grades 3, 6, and 8 show that less than 50 of children in respective grades cannot read and write. This situation includes our children who study in international schools.
- There can be many reasons. One of which is the lack of good materials. The current textbooks only promote memory by doing traditional actions of copying and citing. Our website is designed to fulfill these shortages by introducing learning tasks and assessment questions according to Bloom Taxonomy.
- The incident of Covid-19 that require distance learning now will continue in the future. Cambodia needs good digital content that will stimulate learning. The content and the design of our website is like no others in Cambodia.

What contents does the website contain?

Answer:

- We use state textbooks – Khmer, Mathematics, and Science from grades 1 to 3 to develop learning tasks and assessment questions.
- We use Bloom taxonomy as a reference to ensure that children will use the learning tasks and assessment items to learn Khmer, Mathematics, and Science as well as to use these subjects as tools to develop their 21st-century skills through basically countless learning tasks and assessment questions.
- We also upload a lot of reading materials developed by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, Letsreadasia.org, and Teacher Created Materials that authorize us to do the translation.
- We also upload an abridged Khmer dictionary (វចនានុក្រមសង្កប្ប) including about 8000 common words with easy definition, synonym, and antonym to make it easy for children to have quick access while using the website.
- We use photos and images that are friendly to children.

In this page, teachers as digital content developers can upload lessons in different forms such as reading text, audio files, and video files,s and create different types of learning tasks such as close questions and open questions with supporting audio, visual, and textual references. Teachers can also provide hints or feedback to every learning task so that students can check their wrong answers against the correct answers. The hint can be in the form of writing, video, or audio. The learning page is a like worksheet that teachers create both questions and answers. Therefore, it is more appropriate for close questions.

- The system records and analyzes all the learning activities and each individual student’s learning history.
- It records the time, duration, type, and number of learning tasks and results.
- The information stored on our analytical page functions as evidence and helps students and teachers remain informed of all the progress and problems.
- Teachers use analytical reports in order to analyze the student’s strengths and weaknesses collectively or individually and design differentiated instruction to meet the needs of the learners.
- Teachers can also use the analytical report for the formative assessment purpose by focusing on the procedures such as duration and number of learning tasks completed over the week or month rather than the achievement.
- The same information can also be used as data for students to learn to observe and analyze their strengths and weaknesses. It helps them take action accordingly to adjust their learning style and improve their results.
- The analytical data can be downloaded and used in combination with assessment results by the management in order evaluate the performance of the students and the teachers.

- The homework assigned by a particular teacher can only be seen by the students under the teacher's management. Other users of the website do not have access to the content on the homework page created by a particular teacher.

- Teacher’s time spent on material development, test item writing, and homework marking will significantly be reduced. Everything is done by a machine and proper records. This will leave teachers with more time to provide differentiated instruction to gifted or slow learners.
- Teachers will shift from memory-based teaching to competency-based teaching to promote critical thinking among students via the learning tasks and assessment items on the website. Most of the activities on the website can be used as training references, especially for worksheets and test questions.
- Teachers will have time to introduce project-based assignment and inquiry-based teaching and learning – a method strongly encouraged by the current reform of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.
- Teachers can assign and check homework from their mobile phones by working closely with students and parents and telling the students where and how to carry out self-directed learning by themselves.
